Busy Hands and Bright Minds Group  

Join us for our new group, “Busy Hands and Bright Minds.” Each session blends sensory stories, hands-on sensory play, and neurodivergent friendly activity to spark imagination, build confidence, and support different ways of learning and experiencing the world. Whether your child loves calming textures, vibrant stories, or play, there’s something for every curious mind. 

Perfect for those aged 6-11 years, and all activities are delivered in a relaxed, supportive environment. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

Friends of Little Woods Art Display  

Cookstown will be displaying art work showing wild spaces in Mid Ulster, organised by Friends of Little Woods, to celebrate biodiversity week.

'Writing Home - Louis MacNeice' introduced by Glenn Patterson  

Lisburn City Library is hosting a screening of ‘Writing Home - Louis MacNeice’, a short film (40mins) made by Glenn Patterson and the BBC on the writer and broadcaster’s life. Glenn will be introducing the film and taking a Q&A afterwards.

Banbridge Library is delighted to welcome the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO), who will be hosting an information stand in the library. 
The NIPSO investigates complaints about public services in Northern Ireland. If you feel you have been treated unfairly by a public body, NIPSO provides a free, independent service to review your complaint. Their presence in Banbridge Library will provide an opportunity for the local community to learn more by meeting the NIPSO Policy and Engagement Team.

Have you been treated unfairly or had a poor experience with a public service? The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) Engagement Team is here to help. Drop in to speak confidentially with the team about concerns relating to services such as schools, local councils, or health and social care. NIPSO investigates complaints and works to put things right. This free session offers an opportunity to learn more about your rights and how public services can be improved.

Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman  

Richhill Library is delighted to welcome the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO), who will be hosting an information stand in the library. 

The NIPSO investigates complaints about public services in Northern Ireland. If you feel you have been treated unfairly by a public body, NIPSO provides a free, independent service to review your complaint. Their presence in Richhill Library will provide an opportunity for the local community to learn more by meeting the NIPSO Policy and Engagement Team.

John Hewitt International Summer School - Louise Nealon in conversation with Niamh McNally  

To mark the publication of her second novel, Everything That is Beautiful, Louise Nealon will be in conversation with Niamh McNally, poet and John Hewitt Society Projects Manager.
 

Louise Nealon is a writer from County Kildare, Ireland. Her debut novel, Snowflake, won Newcomer of the Year at the Irish Book Awards and was the One Dublin, One Book choice for 2024. It has been translated into over a dozen languages. Everything That is Beautiful is her second novel.

Book Launch: The Lobster Pot by Bernie McQuillan and Covenants by Eric Greaves  

Two Former John Hewitt International Summer School Bursary recipients return to Armagh to launch their self-published debut novels.
 

Bernie McQuillan participated in Freedom to Write 2025 and her debut novel, The Lobster Pot (Indie Novella, London) is a Donegal literary mystery. An early draft was shortlisted by Watson Little x Indie Novella Prize, longlisted by the Caledonia Novel Award and highly commended by Irish Novel Fair.
 

Eric Greaves’ story, Shades of Jack, was published by Impspired.com for their August 2021 online edition and for their Print Anthology that year. He has had three pieces published in the Caught Alight anthology of Irish Writers and in The Corncrake, the Fermanagh literary magazine.
