Colour and Create-Craft is a vibrant, hands-on developmental activity session for children, building fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. The sessions are designed to engage young minds through multi-sensory, screen-free exploration. The craft projects are chosen to blend the freedom of open-ended colouring and painting with the structured fun of building tangible craft projects. Children can also use the time to find a quiet space to colour, write, or read. Materials are provided.

Welcome to our Sensory-Friendly Family Play Session, a welcoming and judgment-free space. We understand that traditional play environments can sometimes feel overwhelming, which is why our event offers a relaxed, low-stimulus setting where children can fully be themselves.

Children can explore structured tabletop games, cooperative board games, and calming sensory play activities at their own gentle pace. While the children engage in safe, supportive play, parents and caregivers have the dedicated opportunity to connect and share experiences with a supportive community of peers. Whether your child thrives on collaborative gameplay or prefers parallel play in a quiet corner, this afternoon is all about comfort, connection, and community.

This exhibition by printmaker Jenny Bailie explores colour and texture through collagraphy, a method of creating intaglio prints using card, paper, and fabric. Jenny's body of work demonstrates to the viewer the possible forms achievable through experimentation in printing.

About Jenny Bailie: Jenny is an RUA-exhibited printmaker, Fine Art student, and member of the Belfast Print Workshop. Her work, which captures the essence of nature and cityscapes, has been exhibited internationally and sold to private collectors. Passionate about the community aspect of art, Jenny loves working with people and sharing the unique joy and tactile skills of printmaking.

"The Colour of Water" is an exhibition of 20 new abstract landscape and seascape images along the coast of South Down by local photographer Simon McIlwaine. As a lens-based artist, Simon focuses on the natural form and beauty that underlies the dominant subject matter, unveiling aspects of the scene that would not otherwise be apparent. This is achieved by using a number of artistic in-camera capture techniques to create unique compositions while maintaining the true organic spirit of the natural elements.

Rounding off a week of events at Newcastle Library, marking Book Week NI, Maggie Doyle conjures up for her listeners a luminous blend of prose and poetry, told in diary form, which captures the evolving life of a small dairy farm in the Dromara Hills—where music, landscape, and community meet. Maggie will tell us the story of how the farm was transformed into an independent jazz venue, welcoming musicians from around the world, in the quiet companionship of rescued animals.
