Rhythm and Rhyme  

Every Saturday from 10:30am - 11:00am.

Followed by toddler craft time at 11:00am - 11:30am.

Rhythm and Rhyme is an exciting free programme to introduce children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories in the library. Rhythm and Rhyme is a great opportunity for children to have fun and learn in a relaxed venue while giving parents and carers the chance to socialise.

 

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Lego Club  

Every Thursday and Saturday afternoon from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. 

Come and create something fantastic to display.

Game On -Board Game Club  

First Saturday of every month from 2:00pm - 3:30pm.

Knit and Natter  

Every Tuesday from 3:30pm - 4:30pm.

A group for anyone who enjoys knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. Share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Bring whatever you are working on at the moment or start a new project.

Tea and Newspapers  

Every Thursday from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Quiet Time  

Quiet time every Thursday morning.


Lights will be dimmed and we’ll do our best to keep noise to a minimum and provide a quiet and peaceful atmosphere.

 

Material to promote calm and relaxation e.g. mindful colouring will be available on request.

Sensory Storytime and Rhymes

Empathy Day Festival 2026  

Start a Chain Reaction with us in Carnlough Library for Empathy Day! Kids will be able to come in and write compliments on colourful paper strips and link them together to create a giant chain of kindness and empathy. Watch how one thoughtful word can spark another, spreading positivity throughout the library and beyond. 

The event will run during the whole of the Empathy Festival period and then accumulate in the chain being put together and displayed on Empathy Day.

 

Thursday 4 June until Thursday 11 June 2026.

Have you been treated unfairly or had a poor experience with a public service? The Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO) Engagement Team is here to help. Drop in to speak confidentially with the team about concerns relating to services such as schools, local councils, or health and social care. NIPSO investigates complaints and works to put things right. This free session offers an opportunity to learn more about your rights and how public services can be improved. Adults.
