Rhythm and Rhyme  

Held every other Saturday from 10:30am - 11:00am, booking not required.

Rhythm and Rhyme is an exciting free programme to introduce children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories in the library. Rhythm and Rhyme is a great opportunity for children to have fun and learn in a relaxed venue while giving parents and carers the chance to socialise.

Board Games Afternoon  

Roll the dice and join in on the fun with an afternoon of Board Games in Cookstown Library with  Scrabble Snakes and ladders and much more.

Knit and Natter  
Cookstown Library is delighted to launch a new Community Knit and Natter group on Wednesday afternoons from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.
 
Why not come along for a cup of tea, a friendly chat in a relaxed and welcoming environment, and to avail of the chance to learn new skills!

Reminiscence Group  
First Monday of the month from 10:30am - 11:30am, commencing on Monday 7 October 2024.
 
This group meets on a monthly basis to discuss local history and share memories, with the aim of providing opportunities to reminisce. There are also guest speakers invited to some of the sessions to inspire discussion on a variety of reminiscence topics.

Thrive on Thursday-Walk, Wellness and Connection  

First Thursday of every month from 11:00am - 1:00pm

 

We will begin with a gentle walk offering fresh air, light exercise, and the chance to chat and connect. Afterwards, return to the library for a wellness talk or activity focused on overall wellbeing-covering topics like Mindfulness, Stress relief or Healthy habits.

 

Enjoy refreshments and good conversation n a welcoming and relaxed after setting.

 

In the event of bad weather, an indoor activity will take place instead.

Intergenerational Chess Club  

Chess club is open to all ages and all abilities from beginners to advanced.

 

Three Tuesdays each month and one Saturday each month, please call the library for dates.

Tea and Newspapers  

Monday to Friday from 10:00am - 12:00 noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Knit and Natter  

Thursdays from 2:00pm - 4:00pm.

 

A group for anyone who enjoys knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. Share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Bring whatever you are working on at the moment or start a new project.

New Rhythm Drumming Circle  

6 week wellbeing drumming circle to support and encourage adults in rural communities to be creative, gain confidence and connect with others through drumming.

Quiet Hour  

Join us for a calm and welcoming quiet hour in Cookstown Library.

During this time, lighting will be softened, noise kept to a minimum, and a relaxed environment created for those who prefer a quiet space, including those with autism or sensory sensitivities.

Friends of Little Woods Art Display  

Cookstown will be displaying art work showing wild spaces in Mid Ulster, organised by Friends of Little Woods, to celebrate biodiversity week.

 The competition will be judged by the chair of Mid Ulster Council.
