Storytime sessions help children aged 4 - 8 years develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

The Local Lists forms part of the Hands-on Heritage project and looks at buildings in the area that collectively tell the story of Limavady and the Roe Valley area.

The week Dungiven Library's Big Summer Read activity is 'science' and we'll be looking at how seeds grow. Children aged 4-11 years are invited to join and help us build our own miniature front garden (complete with a house façade), which over the coming weeks, we'll water the seeds we plant and watch the garden grow.

Big Sumer Read is doing 'Comics and Manga' at Dungiven Library, as we invite children aged 6+ years to come along and get creative in our 'Comic Book Adventure' Workshop. Join us and learn how to make your own comic book story from scratch using our selection of craft resources available.

Love a good joke?  At Dungiven Library, we're inviting children aged 6+ years along to our 'Comedy Graffiti' Workshop to share all your favourite jokes on our 'Joke Wall'.  We'll have some great joke books on hand too to get you inspired, and plenty of markers so you can practice those graffiti skills and share your jokes on our wall.  12 noon - 1:00pm

Shiver me Timbers! How good are you at reading maps and finding hidden treasure?  Children aged 4-11 years are invited to come to Dungiven Library and get yourself into pirate mode as we lay on a fun pirate treasure hunt in our library from 11:30am - 1:30pm.

Dungiven Library would like to invite you to a pop-up performance in collaboration with ‘The Little Music Studio’.
Join us for a cup of tea or coffee with light refreshments, and enjoy a mix of songs and instrumental music from local musicians. It’s the perfect opportunity to relax, unwind and support music in our community in the beautiful setting of our library.

PRONI on tour brings the Public Records Office of Northern Ireland and Libraries NI together to provide archival support and historical exhibitions in communities across Northern Ireland. 
This workshop at Dungiven Library is designed to help you get started using PRONI's online services and other resources. Whether you're just starting to research your family tree or looking to do some local history research, it's a perfect opportunity to ask questions directly to PRONI staff. 

Booking is required for the workshops on the first floor of the library, but you can drop in anytime between 10:00 - 1:00 or from 2:00 - 4:00 to talk to PRONI staff in the library's lobby area.

… the Gem of the Roe!' If you are from the Dungiven area, we're sure you'll have heard the song, and you'll most certainly have spied the statue of Finvola at the front of our library. So for History week in the Big Summer Read, we'll be holding a children's workshop based around the history of Finvola, for children aged 4+ years accompanied by an adult to come along and join all the fun including storytelling, colouring in and a sing-a-long to end our event.

Big Summer Read wraps up in Dungiven Library with our 'Animal Mask Mania' Craft, as we invite children aged 4-11 years, children aged 8 years and under must be accompanied by an adult, to come along and join this fun craft session where we'll be making animal masks. Will you be a tiger, a dog or a bird - it's your chance to go wild with your creativity!

It’s almost time to go back to school! You will have all your checklists completed for all the things you need to do and things you need to get, and we’ve turned these items into a game of Bingo to help chase those September blues away.

Help us celebrate ‘Go Green with Libraries NI’ month!  
Use our craft resources to decorate your very own flowerpot before planting special seed paper hearts to grow your own colourful wildflowers. These flowers will give bees and other pollinators much needed food when they go looking for food in the spring and summer next year.

We will also be doing a nature-themed story time at this event.

Did you know that before Roald Dahl became a household name as a children's author, he published many short stories for an adult audience? Many of these have twists and turns and a dark humour that we saw versions of in his popular junior fiction writing in later years. 

This is the week where ‘Roald Dahl Day’ makes an appearance in our calendars, and we'd love to invite you along to Dungiven Library where you can take part in a shared reading experience - you are welcome to read parts of the story yourself with staff, or you can just listen if you prefer. We will be reading aloud a mysterious short story from the master of storytelling and enjoying a cup of tea or coffee and biscuits!

This weekend, we celebrate Roald Dahl Day, and to mark the occasion we are having a Story time and Craft session with a Roald Dahl theme. We'll be getting creative and using our imaginations to create a BFG ‘Dream Jar’ wall display in our library and we'll be listening to some of his witty and entertaining writing!

It's a great chance to enjoy a cuppa whilst striking up conversations and connecting with others in your local community.
