Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Irish Language Rhythm and Rhyme session held on the 2nd Saturday of the month from 10:00am - 10:45am.

Rhythm and Rhyme is an exciting free programme to introduce children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories in the library. Rhythm and Rhyme is a great opportunity for children to have fun and learn in a relaxed venue while giving parents and carers the chance to socialise.

We are starting off our Big Summer Read events with a teddy bear sleepover. Drop off your cuddly toy to Downpatrick Library on Monday 29 June, during library hours, for a sleepover and while you are here, take part in a Teddy Bear Picture Hunt. Return the next day to pick up your cuddly buddy and see if they have had any adventures during the night.

Come along to our monthly creative writing group that takes place on the first Tuesday of each month; the event is hosted by local writer Drew Bassett, where you can create and share your own poetry with other members.

In this hands-on history and craft session with the Northern Ireland War Memorial Museum, children will explore an evacuee suitcase, wartime objects and children's toys from the Second World War before making their own flying paper dart and funny faces book to take home.
