All public libraries in Northern Ireland will be closed on Monday 31 August and Mobile Libraries will not be on the road. The Out of Hours Service will be available in applicable libraries. You can check out our eResources via our website or app.

Rhythm and Rhyme  

Every Tuesday from 10:30am - 11:00am. Booking not required.

 

Rhythm and Rhyme is an exciting free programme to introduce children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories in the library. Rhythm and Rhyme is a great opportunity for children to have fun and learn in a relaxed venue while giving parents and carers the chance to socialise.

Lego Club  

Every Wednesday from 3:15pm - 4:15pm.

 

Come along to have Lego building fun with creative ideas for things to make and build. For children aged 4+ years; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Tea and Newspapers  
Every Monday from 10:00am to 12 noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Northern Ireland War Memorial presents the Belfast Blitz  

Join Northern Ireland War Memorial as they present a fascinating account of the Belfast Blitz and how it affected people's everyday lives. It will further explore how the war affected town and country.  Using unique visual presentation and artefacts from the war period, the focus will be on audience participation and stimulating conversation. Big Summer Read 2026 - Totally Tortoise  

Join us in Irvinestown Library for a free children’s event as part of the Big Summer Read. We’re on the Animals branch of our story tree this week and we have a very special visitor coming to Irvinestown Library. Albus the Horsefield tortoise will be in branch to say hello and our very own Lynn will tell us some cool tortoise facts and be on hand to answer any questions about caring for a pet tortoise. Knit and Natter  
Every Friday from 10:00am to 12 noon.

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Go Green with Libraries NI  

Join us in Irvinestown Library for this free children's event to celebrate Go Green month. We will be decorating our own plant pots and planting seeds to help pollinators.

Once you’re able to navigate your way with a computer, to use email and enjoy the Internet, the Go On course will take you one step further.

IT help for beginners: help with your mobile device, general IT assistance, information about library e-services.

3 1-2-1 sessions available; 10:30 - 11:15am, 11:15am - 12 noon, and 12 noon - 12:45pm.

Go On - Library Ancestry  

Once you’re able to navigate your way with a computer, to use email and enjoy the Internet, the Go On course will take you one step further.

Our ancestry is very important to us, and one of the best ways to research our past is through 'Ancestry' a subscription-based repository of information going back over several centuries.  However, there is also a library edition that provides much of the information needed for serious research. Library edition is free for use in libraries.  This session will provide an opportunity to check out the library edition and how it can be used effectively.

Book Week NI 2026 - Scavenger Hunt to Find Your Favourite Book Characters

Out of Hours Service

The Out of Hours Service allows adults (aged 18 years and over) controlled access to Irvinestown Library for an additional 36 hours per week outside of normal opening hours.
Registered members can access a limited but important range of services on a self-service basis, including broadband/Wi-Fi access, printing facilities, study space and book borrowing. To register, just call in or contact the library during normal opening hours and ask staff for details.
