All public libraries in Northern Ireland will be closed on Monday 31 August and Mobile Libraries will not be on the road. The Out of Hours Service will be available in applicable libraries. You can check out our eResources via our website or app.

Knit and Natter

Every Wednesday from 11:30am – 1:00pm

 

Knit and Natter groups are for those who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

 

Booking not necessary.
All ages welcome.

Lego Club

Storytime  
Every Saturday from 11:00am - 11:30am.

Book on the Monday prior to the session.

Storytime sessions help children aged 4 - 8 years develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Please note there will only be two sessions running during the summer on Wednesday 1 July and Wednesday 5 August 2026.


Wednesday from 10:30am - 11:00am.
Booking on the Monday prior to the session is required.

Rhythm and Rhyme is an exciting free programme to introduce children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories in the library. Rhythm and Rhyme is a great opportunity for children to have fun and learn in a relaxed venue while giving parents and carers the chance to socialise.

Big Summer Read - Budding Authors and Illustrators  

Join us for a hands-on workshop where you are the author and illustrator. 
Turn blank pages into adventures, invent characters, and bring your book to life with colour and imagination

Save the Bees Craft  

Join us at Newtownbreda Library to celebrate Go Green Month with Libraries NI! Decorate your very own flowerpot before planting special seed paper to grow vital and wonderful wildflowers. These flowers will give bees and other pollinators food reserves before the winter months.

Good Relations Week: Newtownbreda Then and Now Quiz  

To celebrate Good Relations Week, and this year's theme of inclusion, join us for a quiz everyone can take part in. How well do you know Newtownbreda and the surrounding area?
Answer questions on Newtownbreda's past and present. Show how much you know, and find out how much you don't. A challenge for young and old alike.

Book Week NI - Meet the Author: Colin Bateman  

Bangor native Colin Bateman is the author of many critically acclaimed novels, including several that he has adapted for the screen. His first novel, Divorcing Jack, was published in 1995 and won the Betty Trask Prize.
Join Colin, our special Book Week NI guest, as he discusses his writing and takes questions from the audience.

Celebrate Love Your Library Day with a hands on craft session in Newtownbreda Library. Create friendship bracelets for those close to you and design your own special Love Your Library keychain to take home.
