Holidays Notice and Latest Service Updates

Libraries NI Christmas Holiday period will run from Monday 22 December to Saturday 27 December 2025 inclusive. Libraries NI will reopen to customers on Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 December with all libraries closing at 5:00pm on each of these days. Library opening hours vary, so please check our website for full details for your local library. 
All libraries will be closed on Thursday 1 January 2026 and normal opening hours will resume on Friday 2 January 2026.

Every Monday and Tuesday from 11:00am to 11:30am.
 
Songs, Rhymes and stories for babies and toddlers.
Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Tea and Newspapers  

Every Wednesday from 10:30am to 11:30am

 

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Knit & Natter  
Wednesdays from 11:00am - 12:30pm
 
A group for anyone who enjoys knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. Share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Bring whatever you are working on at the moment or start a new project.

Storytime  
Weekly, every Friday from 2:15pm - 2:45pm. Suitable for ages 3-6 years.
 
Storytime sessions help children develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Lego Club  
Every Saturday from 11:00 am – 12 noon.
For children aged 5 - 10 years; all children must be accompanied by a parent/carer.

Adult Reading Group  

First Friday of every month between 10:30am to 11:30am.

 

This group aims to allow everyone’s reading experiences to be shared and enjoyed. Participants don’t have to be library members but if you join, you can borrow the book the group will be discussing for free.

Put the kettle on! Portstewart Library is celebrating Brew Monday - a cosy and welcoming event to brighten your January! Whether you're looking to chat, relax, or just enjoy a friendly atmosphere, we invite you to come along and enjoy a nice cuppa with a sweet treat on offer as we connect together with others from the community and chase those winter blues away.

Burns Night 'Blether with Burns' Conversation Event  

Portstewart Library invites you to come along and join us in our 'Burns Night' celebration, as we host a morning event steeped with poetry, shared memories and conversation to celebrate our local words, sayings and turns of phrase.  With a 'drop of tea' on offer and plenty of blether, we look forward to welcoming you along for all the fun.

Magic Show with Parky the Magician  

Roll up Roll up, the Magician is here! For children aged 4+ years, children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Portstewart Library invites you to come along and enjoy all the magical fun as we welcome Parky the Magician to host his spectacular Magic Show. You’ll not want to miss this fun filled event.
