Holidays Notice and Latest Service Updates

Libraries NI Christmas Holiday period will run from Monday 22 December to Saturday 27 December 2025 inclusive. Libraries NI will reopen to customers on Monday 29, Tuesday 30 and Wednesday 31 December with all libraries closing at 5:00pm on each of these days. Library opening hours vary, so please check our website for full details for your local library. 
All libraries will be closed on Thursday 1 January 2026 and normal opening hours will resume on Friday 2 January 2026.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Seed Social  

Garvagh Library invites you to come along to our monthly Seed Social Club to learn and share tips on seeds and gardening and to socialise with friends while enjoying a nice cuppa together.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Saturday from 10:00am to 10:30am.
 
Everyone welcome.

Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.

Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Duplo Club  

Every Saturday from 10:30am to 11:30am.

 

For children aged 1 – 6 years. All children must be accompanied by a parent/carer.
Come along to have some Duplo building fun. Fun and creative ideas for things to make and build.

Knit and Natter  
Every Tuesday from 2:30pm to 3:30pm.
 
Everyone welcome.

Knit and Natter Groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Lego Club  

Every Tuesday from 4:30pm to 5:30pm.

Storytime  

Weekly, every Saturday from 2:30pm to 3.00pm. Suitable for ages 4-8 years; children must be accompanied by an adult.

Storytime sessions help children develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Chatterbooks  

Chatterbooks is an exciting Junior Reading Group where children aged 9 - 11 years can come along to chat about their favourite books, enjoy fun activities and crafts and meet new friends.

New Year 'Fun Firework' Craft  

Happy New Year! To kick start 2026, Garvagh Library invites children aged 4-10 to our 'Fun Fireworks' craft. Using our array of available craft resources, our lovely library staff will guide you through how to make your own vibrant, colourful fireworks.

Kid Inventors' Day - 'Racing Rocket' Craft'  

This 'Kid Inventors’ Day', blast off in Garvagh Library with your very own Racing Rocket! We invite all budding inventors aged 4-10 to join us in creating your own unique rocket with our array of craft resources.

Brew Monday - 'Brewsday'  

Pop the kettle on, because Garvagh Library welcomes you to Brewsday! Our Samaritans Blue Monday event with a Tuesday twist. Come along and enjoy a nice cuppa with a sweet treat on offer as we connect together and chase those winter blues away.

Bonny Burns Activities and Highland Cow Craft  

Garvagh Library welcomes all wee bonnie lads and lasses to celebrate Burns Night with us. We will have a range of Burns themed activity sheets available and our lovely library staff will be leading a Highland Cow craft. Come create your very own cow to take home with you. Moo!

Burns Night - 'Thistle Watercolour' Session  

Och aye! To celebrate this Burns Night, Garvagh Library invites adults to our 'Thistle Watercolour' session. Guided by our lovely library staff, use our watercolours to create your very own thistle painting.
