Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Friday from 10:30am - 11:00am. 
 
Children must be accompanied by an adult; Booking Essential.  
 
Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.  Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Lego and Duplo Club  
Every Friday from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. 
Booking is advisable.
 
For children aged 3 and over for the Duplo Club and children aged 6 and over for the Lego Club ; children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
 
Come along to have Lego building fun.
Fun and creative ideas for things to make and build.

Adult Reading Group  
Monthly on a Saturday from 10:15am –11:15am

Adult Reading Groups are a great opportunity for members to join in some lively literary discussions in a relaxed, friendly environment. The groups encourage people to read for pleasure, share their enthusiasm and express opinions about books and their authors.
 
The group meets on a regular basis and the book the group will be discussing can be borrowed from the library catalogue for free.

Knit and Natter  
Every Wednesday from 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Booking is essential.

Knit and Natter groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Storytime  
Thursday from 2:15pm - 2:45pm.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Storytime sessions help children aged 4 - 8 years develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Tea and Newspapers  

Every Monday from 10:00am - 12:00noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

‘Tackling Textiles’ Visible Mending Workshop  

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, discover creativity, relaxation and a sense of accomplishment at our ‘Tackling Textiles’ Visible Mending Workshop. Learn from Joanne how to do visible repairs to mend rips and tears with Sashiko, Boro and embroidery stitching.
 

For adults and children aged 8+ (who must be accompanied by an adult)

Reading Gang  

Second Tuesday of each month from 3:30pm - 4:15pm.

 

Junior Reading Groups are a fun way for children to be introduced to a wide range of new books, authors and to make new friends along the way. Members are asked to read a chosen book before each meeting, which will be available to borrow for free from the library catalogue.  

 

For Children aged 9-11 children must be accompanied by an adult.

Poetry Reading with Roy Kirkwood  

Join us for a reading by local poet Roy Kirkwood. Roy has been writing for many years, becoming more prolific during lockdown when he took up his role as Poet in Residence for Dundonald Art Corridor.
Every year, Roy participates in the ‘100 poems in 100 days challenges’. In doing so he has raised over £10,000 for charity.
There will be a display of Roy's work in the library throughout May 2026.

Meet the Luthiers  

Are you interested in guitars and how they are made?
Join luthiers Jake Menear and Gerry O’Gorman as they regale you with tales of their lives and experiences building and repairing guitars and the people they have met along the way.
Presented by the Classical Guitar Society of Northern Ireland.

Empathy Day Craft  

Empathy Day craft event
Call into Dundonald Library and jump into someone else’s story by taking part in our Empathy Day crafts.  Help us to create empathy resolution bunting to decorate the library or make your own empathy comic strip.

Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman  

Dundonald Library is delighted to welcome the Northern Ireland Public Services Ombudsman (NIPSO), who will be hosting an information stand in the library. 
The NIPSO investigates complaints about public services in Northern Ireland. If you feel you have been treated unfairly by a public body, NIPSO provides a free, independent service to review your complaint. Their presence in Dundonald Library will provide an opportunity for the local community to learn more by meeting the NIPSO Policy and Engagement Team.
