Adult Reading Groups are a great opportunity for members to join in some lively literary discussions in a relaxed, friendly environment. The groups encourage people to read for pleasure, share their enthusiasm and express opinions about books and their authors.
 
The group meets on a regular basis and the book the group will be discussing can be borrowed from the library catalogue for free.

Junior Reading Gang  

Second Thursday of each month from 3:30pm - 4:15pm.

 

Junior Reading Groups are a fun way for children to be introduced to a wide range of new books, authors and to make new friends along the way. Members are asked to read a chosen book before each meeting, which will be available to borrow for free from the library catalogue.

 

For Children aged 7- 9 children must be accompanied by an adult.

Reading Gang  

Second Tuesday of each month from 3:30pm - 4:15pm.

 

Junior Reading Groups are a fun way for children to be introduced to a wide range of new books, authors and to make new friends along the way. Members are asked to read a chosen book before each meeting, which will be available to borrow for free from the library catalogue.

Knit and Natter  
Every Wednesday from 2:00pm - 3:00pm

Booking is essential.

Knit and Natter groups are for adults who enjoy knitting, crochet, cross stitch and other crafts. They are free of charge to attend and participants have the opportunity to share hints and tips, swap patterns, meet new people and learn new skills. Members can bring along a project they are already working on or can start something new.

Storytime  
Thursday from 2:15pm - 2:45pm.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Storytime sessions help children aged 4 - 8 years develop a love of books, improve their listening skills, inspire creativity and feeds their imagination. Join our friendly staff as they read popular books and introduce children to a whole range of different authors.

Rhythm and Rhyme  
Every Friday from 10:30am - 11:00am. 
 
Children must be accompanied by an adult; Booking Essential.  
 
Rhythm and Rhyme sessions introduce parents and children aged 0 - 4 years to the wonder of rhymes, songs and stories.  Each session offers an entertaining opportunity for children to engage with others, provides a good foundation to develop their reading, listening and language skills and of course to have lots of fun!

Lego and Duplo Club  
Every Friday from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. 
Booking is advisable.
 
For children aged 3 and over for the Duplo Club and children aged 6 and over for the Lego Club ; children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
 
Come along to have Lego building fun.
Fun and creative ideas for things to make and build.

Tea and Newspapers  

Every Monday from 10:00am - 12:00noon.

Tea and Newspapers groups give adults the opportunity to meet new people, socialise and discuss local and national affairs in the newspapers while enjoying complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits.

Making Connections: Dementia Friendly Hours  

An hour of engagement for those living with dementia or memory loss and their carers and families. 
Tea and Coffee available.

New Year’s Resolution Craft for Kids  

Join us in Dundonald Library for our New Year Craft session. Create your own New Year’s resolution craft to take home.

Dementia Safeguarding Scheme Drop-In Information Session  

This drop-in information session will give people the opportunity to find out more about the scheme and register for an information band in person.

 

A new Dementia Safeguarding Scheme to help support people living with dementia and provide peace of mind for families and carers has launched in the Lisburn and Castlereagh area. It provides free wristbands and hang tags using Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.

 

If a person becomes confused or distressed, the scheme device allows emergency contact details for next of kin to be accessed quickly and securely with a tap of a smartphone, helping people to be reunited safely with their family or carer.

 

The Dementia Safeguarding Scheme is a joint initiative between the Lisburn and Castlereagh PCSP, Lisburn and Castlereagh City Council and Police Service Northern Ireland - Lisburn and Castlereagh.

From 10:00am - 1:00pm and 2:00pm - 4:00pm.

Storytelling and Reminiscence Session with Karen Edwards  

Karen Edwards hails from Carnlough in the Glens of Antrim and combines storytelling with music on her Killarney D and low D Whistles.

 

Karen has entertained audiences throughout Ireland and has a wide repertoire including traditional myths and legends as well as stories she has written herself based on the history of the Glens of Antrim.
